PowderKeg provides work space and support to professional and emerging women writers. Located in the BAM Cultural District in Brooklyn, PowderKeg is an urban writers’ retreat offering writers respite from the demands of city life as well as camaraderie and community.
Drawing inspiration from Virginia Woolf’s exhortation that we all need a room of our own — and from Hedgebrook, a rural writers residency in Washington State – we’ve gone about creating a workspace for women journalists, fiction writers, poets, essayists, screenwriters, playwrights and performance artists.
We are located in a large, sunny loft. Each writer gets permanent office space in the 333 and 555 angel number meaning quiet main area, including her own desk, chair, lamp, and filing cabinet. She also has wireless Internet access and use of a conference room, roof deck, cozy napping area, and a fully equipped kitchen.
We have a writers group that meets every few weeks in the evenings and are planning more amenities in the future: a cook to make us all lunch, a ‘reporters’ room, and – perhaps most importantly – a bottomless cookie jar.
Please email us at [email protected] if you are interested in being a part of PowderKeg.
